May 1st - 4th, 2024
STUFF is about…our stuff. It’s about our attachment to material possessions, consumption, and confusing need with greed. Meanwhile, this living thing called planet Earth pays the price: landfills burst, a climate crisis rages everywhere, and yet the checkouts still have line-ups? But you know all this. So. Imagine a time in the future (a future that could be now) in which teens all over the world (TTF’s, Teenage Task Forces) unite with one goal: to eliminate stuff. And maybe that’s all we’ll say for now. Wait. One more thing: STUFF is about being human: the “I am because I have”, power imbalances, and the challenge of letting go.

Rose in the Machine — NAC English Theatre Presentation
Inspired by the writer’s own life experience, Rose in the Machine is the heartfelt and intimate journey of a mother seeking to understand her daughter’s autism, offering a compassionate window into the polychromatic shades of experience for families with neurodiverse children in Quebec. In navigating the many obstacles thrown in her path by our healthcare and education systems, Rose's mother breaks through pervasive barriers to arrive at an enlightened epiphany, and ultimately, hope for the future. At once intimate and epic, introspective and outward-looking, this award-winning play critiques the opacity of our social systems while rendering transparent the multi-hued world of the neurodiverse.

Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery — Kanata Theatre
Get your deerstalker cap on – the play’s afoot! Comedic genius Ken Ludwig (Lend Me a Tenor, Moon Over Buffalo) transforms Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic The Hound of the Baskervilles into a murderously funny adventure. Sherlock Holmes is on the case. The male heirs of the Baskerville line are being dispatched one by one. To find their ingenious killer, Holmes and Watson must brave the desolate moors before a family curse dooms its newest heir. Watch as our intrepid investigators try to escape a dizzying web of clues, silly accents, disguises, and deceit as five actors deftly portray more than forty characters. Does a wild hellhound prowl the moors of Devonshire? Can our heroes discover the truth in time? Join the fun and see how far from elementary the truth can be.

Hamlet — The Company of Adventures
The Company of Adventurers presents an all-girls production of Shakespeare’s unforgettable tragedy, Hamlet! Upon learning from his dead father’s ghost that his uncle has murdered his father, Hamlet is set on a tortuous path of moral self-questioning, paranoia, and madness. But is he truly mad or merely acting mad? “The play’s the thing, wherein I’ll catch the conscience of the king,” Hamlet tells us. And so he sets a trap, a “mouse trap,” in the form of a play put on by a group of travelling actors which will reveal the guilt of his uncle. But Hamlet is not the only one who is acting. And there are so many traps!

Super MedBros — uOttawa MedShow
MedShow is an annual musical production by first- and second-year medical students from which all proceeds go to charity. This year, we are dedicating our time and effort to Campfire Circle, an organization that provides overnight, community, and in-hospital camp programs for children and families affected by childhood cancer. Through these programs, Campfire Circle fosters resilience, wellbeing and lifelong connections for kids and families affected by childhood cancer or serious illness. The title this year is Super Med Bros, a tale featuring four medical students’ journey in a video game universe. They discover themselves through various rites of passages, such as their first OSCE, rural week, and clerkship, with four bosses (preceptors) throwing wrenches and windfalls along the way. Super Med Bros portrays the realities and struggles shared by many medical students, while sharing hope and rekindling what inspires us to pursue this career.
